Playlist # 12 : "For this selection of 12 videos, I have decided to focus on the hand's gesture pointing a camera phone at a black and white pictogramme painted on the ground. My selection of films relies on the notions of fidelity and picture quality, visual abstraction, figurative analogies and sensorial hyperlinks. The videos are personal files as well as a selection of videos from other artists or videos picked up from the web and put together for their formal links. They are art pieces as well as documents or film samples." Maxime Thieffine Maxime Thieffine Maxime Thieffine was born in 1973, he lives & works in Paris. After graduating from Paris Nouvelle Sorbonne University (in cinema & audiovisual studies in 1999), he has tought Renaissance iconography & analysis (from 2000 until 2003). He post graduated in Le Fresnoy, National studio for contemporary arts (in 2005) and got various residencies, participated in several group exhibitions & had a solo show in Le Commissariat (Paris) in 2009. From digital video, he has developped ways of showing & displaying the image in space focusing on its physical aspects. He has co-founded l'Ambassade (with Cecilia Becanovic), a curating partnership which produced exhibitions, video programs, conferences and documentary displays since 2006. He regularly publishes as a critic (online or for catalogues). |
